Honoring Our Veterans

On Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11th at 2pm, the community came together to celebrate our veterans and active military members and spend time remembering the importance of the sacrifices made by them and their families. This was our First Annual Veterans Parade and it could not have gone better. Community and military members drove and marched along Main Street in East Moriches in classic cars, army trucks, and with a pride for this country that brought everyone together. The weather was beautiful and sunny. Over 1,000 families, kids, and adults came out to enjoy the day and we had over 500 marchers, many of whom have served in our military.

A special thanks to the talented folks at Long Island Video Services for creating this wonderful video tribute of our First Annual Veterans Day Parade.

Loving Respect & Touching Tributes

We had so many amazing people play a part in this parade, especially George Kreuscher, who sang his beautiful rendition of The Star Spangled Banner; Rabbi Steven Moss, who gave our Invocation; all the elected officials who participated including Legislators Bridget Flemming and Rudy Sunderman, Supervisor Edward Romaine, and Councilman Dan Panico; as well as Pastor Jack King, who read our Benediction at the closing of the parade.

We would like to say a very special thank you to our Grand Marshal Paul Haines for his service both to our military and our community.

Following the parade the East Moriches Fire Department had snacks and refreshments where marchers and attendees alike could gather and enjoy the remainder of their Sunday.

Our first annual Veterans Day parade was a huge success but it would not have been possible without a myriad of people coming together to make it so great. The Chamber thanks everyone who had a hand in making this day special and we look forward with excitement for how we can make this event even better next year. As always keep your eyes out for upcoming events as the holiday season nears and if you have any comment or suggestions please let us know.
