The Town of Brookhaven is looking for community partners to take part in and help sponsor their 3rd Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Day of Service Luncheon. Please read the following from Mr. Marvin L. Colson and Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright:
Dear Community Partner,
We enthusiastically invite you to join us at our third annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Day of Service Luncheon. As you may know, the Day of Service is a tribute to the legacy of Dr. King and the many meaningful principles for which he advocated. The 2019 Day of Service Luncheon will be held on Martin Luther King Day, Monday January 21, 2019 at 12pm at Mill Pond Country Club. The event will be followed by onsite community service projects including hygiene kit packing for disaster relief victims. The goal of the Day of Service is to encourage and highlight local community service participation and contributions. As in our 2018 MLK program, participants will update attendees on the community service projects they completed during the year and we will highlight individuals, community groups and organizations who took the 2018 community service pledge and followed through on their commitment.
Our first and second Day of Service Luncheons were incredibly successful and featured standing room only attendance of over 300 residents, community organizations, religious institutions and business partners from across the Town. We hope to have your support and sponsorship for this phenomenal event. You may sponsor the event in one of three ways: 1) serve as an event sponsor at one of the below sponsorship levels, 2) serve as a community service project sponsor with a monetary or in-kind donation, and/or 3) advertise in our event journal. Event sponsors will receive recognition on the Town of Brookhaven website, via the Town email ListServe, signage at event and on the program. The proceeds from this event will support future Day of Service events. If you would like to be an event sponsor we ask you to respond by January 1, 2019. We also invite you to share a favorite quote or principle of Martin Luther King Jr. which will be highlighted during the event.
