The Spring Fair is the second weekend in the month of June. It is run in conjunction with the Center Moriches Fire Department Strawberry Festival. The committee is in charge of filing the necessary permits for the fair, contacting the vendors, advertising, and staging the event. The fair usually contains 100-120 vendors. Arts & Craft Fair and Chinese Auction
This committee has the dual purpose of organizing an arts and craft fair along with a Chinese auction. It is held the third Saturday in July on the lawn of Clayton Huey Elementary School. The committee solicits donations from the local businesses for the auction. They also have the same duties as the Spring Fair committee as it pertains to this event.
Summer Concert Series
The Chamber sponsors three summer concerts on the lawn of Clayton Huey Elementary School. The dates are determined by the availability of the Brookhaven Town Show mobile. The committee is responsible for filing the necessary permits with the town and the school district. They review and hire the bands for the evenings. One of the committee members is on site for the evening.
The date of this festival is determined by the committee. The idea of this fair is to kick off the holiday shopping season for our local merchants in town. It’s the start of our holiday season. This fair is in conjunction with the Halloween Window Painting and the March of the Goblins. The committee responsibilities again are similar to those of the Summer Fair.
March of the Goblins & Window Painting
The committees for these events are involved with the local schools. First the art departments are contacted to paint the willing merchant’s windows in the Fall/ Halloween theme. The windows are judges by the committee. The March of the Goblins involves the schools, Center Moriches Fire Department, and the Seventh Precinct of the SCPD. The March is a safe alternative to trick or treating on the side streets of Center Moriches. Traditionally the March is held on October 31 from 4:30-6pm.
Holiday Lighting & Christmas Tree Lighting
This committee is in charge of the holiday lights in Center Moriches and in East Moriches. They check the lights, contact the electrical company for installation, and decide what goes where. This committee is designed to hold a tree lighting event at the Neville Street Park on the Friday evening before the Holiday Light Parade.
