Why We Started ZenBusiness
In 2015, Ross Buhrdorf and Shanaz Hemmati founded ZenBusiness with a clear mission: to empower entrepreneurs from all walks of life to confidently start, run, and grow a successful business. They believed that people are happier and more fulfilled when they work for themselves. Ross and Shanaz envisioned ZenBusiness as a unified platform that combined leading technology with amazing customer support and educational resources.
Today, ZenBusiness is the trusted leader for aspiring business owners, having helped over 850,000 entrepreneurs launch and build their businesses.

From day one, we focused on building an equitable future for business owners. We all benefit when diverse people pursue their passions and take control of their destinies.
As a Public Benefit Corporation we give back to those who are underserved and are committed to operating responsibly and sustainably to benefit all small business communities. Since 2020, we’ve awarded over $700,000 in grants to small businesses. We partner with the Mavs Business Assist, giving diverse entrepreneurs free access to knowledge, tools, and support. We also donate to organizations that work to end inequality and support entrepreneurship. We’re also proud to say that women make up almost 50% of our employees and leadership team.
