Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Brightens the Holiday Season

This year we had our annual tree lighting in the King Kullen Shopping Center located right in our lovely town of Center Moriches. Community members and elected officials started arriving at around 7pm on December 7th. We heard music from the Center Moriches High School Band and handed out cookies and hot Chocolate. We then had a visit from Steven Schwartz of the Center Moriches Jewish Center, to light the Menorah and explain a bit about Hanukkah and it’s traditions.

Honoring Our Veterans

On Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11th at 2pm, the community came together to celebrate our veterans and active military members and spend time remembering the importance of the sacrifices made by them and their families. This was our First Annual Veterans Parade and it could not have gone better. Community and military members drove and marched along Main Street in East Moriches in classic cars, army trucks, and with a pride for this country that brought everyone together. The weather was beautiful and sunny. Over 1,000 families, kids, and adults came out to enjoy the day and we had over 500 marchers, many of whom have served in our military.

Ghosts and Goblins and Ghouls – Oh My!

On Halloween night, from 4:30-6pm, Main Street in Center Moriches was filled with kids and adults in costumes of every description! The weather was perfect and everyone had a wonderful time.

For nearly 20 years our town has provided a safe and fun way to trick or treat without the worries and stress that comes with going house to house. Business owners and community members alike handed out candy and treats to well over 1,000 children and adults.

Half-Way to St. Pat’s Pancake Fundraiser Fun

On Sunday, September 23rd, our community came together to enjoy some delicious pancakes while we celebrate our chosen Grand Marshal for 2019, Arthur Gerhauser. 

Mr. Gerhauser has been a long time friend to the community and tremendously involved member of the Chamber. We are thrilled he has accepted the honor of be our Grand Marshal for the 2019 St Patrick’s Day Parade!

Girl Scout Troop 1556 Makes Pinwheels for Peace

On Wednesday, September 19th, our local Girl Scout Troop 1556, led by Jennifer Glover, gathered at the sign welcoming people into Center Moriches. The troop is made up of young community members all around 11 years of age, and all standing up for a good cause – World Peace. The pinwheels you see were all hand designed by our lovely Girl Scouts and were admired by many local community members.

Great Music, Food & Friends on Our Sunset Cruise

This week on August 7th, we were finally able to have our annual sunset cruise after many attempts that ended in bad weather. Tuesday’s weather could not have been better, and while we were unable to see the sunset the evening, it was spent with amazing people who made the event just as much fun without.

Our Free Summer Movie Nights are a Huge Hit

This past Saturday, we had our second successful family-friendly, Chamber-sponsored event of the summer! The weather was amazing for the showing of Coco, the 2017 Pixar animation, played on the lawn at Clayton Huey Elementary. Attendance was high and everyone had a great time!

On Saturday, July 7th, the Chamber of Commerce hosted the first concert of the summer! The weather couldn’t have been better! Adults and children enjoyed the music and community-feel alike. On the lawn of Clayton Huey Elementary School, Nitework, played their hearts out and everyone in town had a blast!
