Rain or Shine: Milagro Lights Up Our Summer Concert Series

On August 3rd, our Summer Concert Series came alive with the infectious sounds of Milagro! Despite the unexpected rain, the energy was fantastic as everyone danced and sang along to the Santana cover band, turning the night into an unforgettable celebration.

Even when the rain forced us to shut down the main event, the spirit of the crowd didn’t dwindle. Attendees lingered, soaking up the camaraderie and good vibes, proving that great music can weather any storm. A heartfelt thanks to Milagro for their phenomenal performance and to Bad “S”moothies Food Truck for serving up delicious treats that kept our spirits high.

But the fun isn’t over yet! We still have two amazing concerts left in our Summer Concert Series. Join us this Saturday, August 10th, at 7 PM for a performance by the band Easy Street at Soldiers and Sailors Field in East Moriches. Then, don’t miss our grand finale on August 17th, featuring the band Sitting Ducks at Clayton Huey Elementary School in Center Moriches.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches Spring Festival Recap

On June 9, 2024, The Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches threw its annual Spring Fair, a lively event that braved the rainy and windy morning weather. Despite the rough start, the day turned into a fun-filled late morning and afternoon, buzzing with community spirit and engagement.

The awesome martial arts performances by the kids from Empower Martial Arts & Fitness brought a cool kick of athleticism and excitement to the fair. The local children wowed the crowd with their impressive skills, giving everyone a good time. Even with the rain and wind causing trouble in the morning, the performances were spot-on, adding an extra level of challenge and bravery to the show.

Bank Street Park became a hub of culture during the fair, hosting an art show that showcased the creativity and talent of local artists. Visitors could check out and buy unique pieces of art, adding a splash of artistic flair to the event.

A major highlight of the day was the Annual Strawberry Festival fundraiser hosted by CMFD Company One, where folks savored delicious Strawberry Shortcakes donated by Nettie’s Bakery for a good cause. The fundraiser not only pleased taste buds but also highlighted the community’s generous and supportive spirit.

Despite the rocky start with the weather, the Spring Fair transformed into a memorable gathering that embraced the diversity and liveliness of the community. From great music to the martial arts performances and the artsy vibes of the art show, the event created a space for making connections, having fun, and celebrating together.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches’ Spring Fair embodied the community’s resilience, togetherness, and creative spirit. As people mixed, shopped, danced, and laughed together, the day echoed with shared joy and experiences that strengthened the community bonds.

Our next fair will be out Fall Festival, which will be held on October 20th!

Don’t forget to join us for our Summer Concerts this July through August taking place in both Center Moriches and East Moriches.

We hope to see you there!

Honoring the Fallen: VFW Post 414’s Annual Memorial Day Parade

On Monday, May 27th, the VFW Post 414 hosted its annual Memorial Day parade, bringing together the community to pay tribute to the fallen service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

The parade began at 9am on Lake Avenue, winding its way through the streets to Mount Pleasant Cemetery, where a solemn ceremony was held in honor of the heroes who have given their lives for our freedom.

The ceremony was a beautiful tribute to those who have served and sacrificed, with heartfelt words, poignant music, and a sense of community that is truly special. It was a proud moment to see so many community organizations come together to honor the fallen, and to recognize the sacrifices of those who have served.

As we gathered at the cemetery, we were reminded of the importance of these parades and ceremonies. They are not just a way to mark a day off the calendar, but a way to honor the memories of those who have given their lives for our country. They are a reminder of the sacrifices that have been made, and the freedoms that we enjoy today.

The VFW Post 414’s annual Memorial Day parade is a beloved tradition in our community, and it is heartwarming to see so many people come together to pay tribute to those who have served. We hope that this important tradition will continue to be well-attended for years to come.

As we reflect on the sacrifices of those who have served, let us also take a moment to appreciate the freedoms that we enjoy today. Let us remember the men and women who have given their lives for our country, and let us strive to live up to the values of freedom, justice, and equality that they have fought for.

Thank you to the VFW Post 414 for hosting this important event, and thank you to all those who came out to participate and show their respect. We are grateful for your service, and we will never forget the sacrifices that you have made.
