Information on the New York Forward Loan Fund (NYFLF)

New York State is working to support small businesses throughout the COVID-19 crisis, by providing up-to-date resources and information about economic recovery and COVID-19-related loans, funding and business counseling. The New York Forward Loan Fund (NYFLF) is a new economic recovery loan program aimed at supporting New York State small businesses, nonprofits and small landlords as they reopen after the COVID-19 outbreak and NYS on PAUSE.

Volunteers Needed – We Need Your Help

The Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches and the Downtown Beautification Organization are looking for volunteers with a green thumb. We have recently hung up our Summertime flower baskets along Main Street and we need help keeping them watered this season. Anyone interested in helping out should contact Gerry Sapanaro of Moriches Bay Realty at (631) 878-0003 to find out more.

We also are looking for folks to help out with a small planting project at the welcome sign on Montauk Highway leading into Center Moriches. We will be planting some ornamental grasses and flowers this Saturday, May 30th. Again, please contact Gerry Sapanaro at (631) 878-0003 for more details.

2020 Spring Fair Cancelled

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be able to have our annual Spring Fair this year, and at this time we are not yet sure about the Fall Fair. If you have sent in an application with money please let us know if you want us to return it or hold it for the possibility of a Fall Fair.

Reopening New York & Additional PPP Funding

The “New York Forward” Plan

Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office has published a PDF entitled “A Guide to Reopening New York & Building Back Better“. This is an important read for any small business owner as it help us to understand the state’s plans as we continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and how it will affect our families and businesses. New York State has also put up a Regional Monitoring Dashboard that shows what areas are ready to reopen and what benchmarks need to be met by others.

Town of Brookhaven Creates Emergency Micro-Enterprise Business Relief Grant Program

The Town of Brookhaven has received a Special Allocation of funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and has created an Emergency Microenterprise Business Relief Grant Program to help mitigate the economic hardships experienced by small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
