Ethan is a Center Moriches High School student going into his senior year. He is the first journalism intern for the Chamber of Commerce and is excited to be working with us. He is a proud member of the Moriches community, working at a local business and playing for multiple high school sports teams including Varsity Soccer and Track & Field. After high school he is interested in pursuing journalism or criminal justice and would like to study at the University of Georgia. Other schools he’s interested in are the University of Maryland and Texas A&M.

Second Meeting of the Year

In our second meeting of 2020, we met at Oasis Rehabilitation and Nursing. We had two guests, and went over a variety of topics, including the presentation of this year’s budget.

Holiday Happiness

The Fall Season is coming to a close, and the Holidays are coming faster than a blink of an eye. We introduced a new slate of officers for the 2020 calendar year, and the first Students of the Month from Center Moriches High School were introduced. Multiple reports for committees plans for the winter season were given, and we welcomed a new member from The Villa at Westhampton.

Counting Down the Days to the Holidays

This month, we discussed many things ranging from the upcoming Fall Festival to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. We welcomed two new members, Mark Shuster of Stoebe & Shuster Real Estate Group, and Susan Daconto of the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. Overall, this meeting was full of information that every member of the chamber of commerce should know.

A Busy Start to Autumn in the Chamber

The Moriches Chamber of Commerce monthly meetings are back, and the September meeting at the Moriches Bay Diner went smoothly as planned. It started with a guest speaker, Mr. Rocco Carriero, the author of “Three Cords Approach to Life and Wealth Management for Business Owners”. Talking about the 3 types of business owners, he weighed all of the options and talked about balancing your family and your personal health with your business life. Don’t let a certain aspect of your life overrule the rest, find the perfect balance. If you haven’t yet, pick up a copy of his book, it’s worth the read.

A Beautiful Day for a Spring Fair

It’s that time of the year again, spring is here and with it is the Center Moriches Spring Fair. At this year’s fair, held on June 8th, there was a vendor for every person, reaching any audience. The most prominent tents were the jewelry shops, ranging from handcrafted necklaces and bracelets, to cheaper, but still stylish jewelry. However, there was no lack of impressive food vendors. One of the most important things about living in a small community like Moriches is supporting local businesses.
